I painted this huge cod fish on the main building of an old fish saltery in northern Norway. It was my greatest pleasure to spend some time on the beautiful Lofoten islands. Nature up there is absolutely breathtaking. Lofoten has a long history with cod fish production. The cod fishing industry has been the main source of income for most inhabitants on the islands. Wild cod for ‘stockfish’ is being caught in spring. After cleaning the fish, all of them are being dried on huge wooden constructions. The fresh air and arctic wind, helps the fish to dry out completely. Cod is still very important for this part of Norway. I wanted to honour this tradition, by painting a huge cod on this wall.
